Hutt Valley Sculptors
Three Oamaru Stone sculptors from around the Hutt Valley region, bring us an exhibition far from ordinary.
David Saunders – David’s inspiration comes from the dynamic effect of the sun, and he uses its magic wherever possible using hard and soft edges to create strong shadows on the stone. David also uses holes to maximise the effect of changing light conditions throughout the day, which brings each piece to life throughout the year.
Brett Keno - Brett whakapapa’s to Ngaiterangi, Ngati Ranginui, and Ngai Tahu. His inspiration comes from the natural world around him and through his Maori heritage. Traditional or stylised Maori design is incorporated into his sculptures and stone carvings.
Shivaun Hogan - Shivaun’s work brings a quirkiness added to the ordinary. A slight shift in perspective of our surroundings. Questioning what we see about our understanding of the world. “The Alien Pet Series” series was created to express her observations about our love for our pets and our fascination with aliens, comic book superhero movies and video games.
