Community Wellbeing
Welcome to Horowhenua District Council's Community Wellbeing page.
Horowhenua District Council is committed to fulfilling its obligations under the Local Government Act to ensure community outcomes are achieved and over the last five years we have made enormous progress in setting down foundations for future growth within the Community Wellbeing area.
During the latter part of 2010 Horowhenua District Council dis-established its Joint Health and Transport Subcommittee and established the Community Wellbeing Committee and Forum. The Community Wellbeing Committee is made up of Councillor and Community representation, acting as an official subcommittee of Council to provide effective leadership and strategic vision within the Community Wellbeing area.
The committee meet every six weeks in the Council Chambers at Horowhenua District Council. Details of the next Community Wellbeing meeting can be found on our Meeting Dates and Locations page.
As well as the Community Wellbeing Committee, Horowhenua District Council proudly supports and coordinates the Community Wellbeing Forum. This Forum is an open body of community leaders and representatives who bring the voice of the wider community around the issue and needs facing the Horowhenua. As well as this the forum also brings forward suggestions of how solutions may respond to needs. This forum is powerful tool to ensure that as a community we are thinking of how we can apply local solutions to local needs.
