Dogs on a Lead

Our Animal Control Officers have noticed an increasing trend of dogs being walked by their owners without the dog being on a lead.

Whilst it is great to see dogs and their owner's exercising, we want to remind dog owners that dogs must be on a lead in the urban areas to comply with the Council's Dog Control Bylaw.

By having a dog on a lead, you are also enhancing both the safety of your dog and that of other people when out and about.

Non-compliance with this regulation could see dog owners liable for a $100 fine.
