Rose Gardens Will Bloom Again
The Cambridge Street Gardens have come up smelling roses with the Council deciding to retain the roses at the gardens.
A proposal put forward in the Draft Annual Plan to remove the roses and replace them with native planting received a huge response from the public. As a result of the Draft Annual Plan deliberations, the roses will be retained. The existing mature roses will be replaced and the beds reconfigured to enable an even higher level of maintenance than previously provided. New seating and paths will form part of the rose garden upgrade at the site.
Council staff are currently working with interested parties to form a community working group to prune the roses and establish an ongoing maintenance programme.
