Maintenance Contracts 2010 Out for Tender
Tuesday, 02 February 2010
The 16 Horowhenua District Council maintenance contracts are now out for tender in a brand new package. The three large contracts of the past are now up for grabs in 16 small parts, allowing small local operators a chance to tender.
A recent review revealed that the previous scope and size of our maintenance contracts had limited participants to a few large operators. The scene is now set for small local contractors to tender for the service work on our roads, water, wastewater and parks. It is now possible that mowing local parks, reserves and street berms could be the work of the local contractors who live within one of the five areas identified within our District.
We are expecting a positive outcome from this ‘break down’ of the maintenance contracts where small companies who successfully tender and win contracts will have a unique opportunity to proudly deliver services within their own communities.
Council are in anticipation of hearing from a whole new range of contractors when tenders for the three to five-year contracts close in early March for work commence in July this year.
The documentation for these maintenance contracts is only available on Network and Services Maintenance Contracts or on LGTenders New Zealand.
