Haven't Got an Enrolment Update Pack? You're Not Enrolled to Vote.

Thursday, 08 July 2010

The enrolment drive for the local elections should have reached local residents by now, and all those who didn’t get an enrolment update pack are not enrolled to vote for the local council and district health board elections.

“If you haven’t received one of these packs you’re not enrolled – and you need to fill out an enrolment form now,” says Fay Wilson the local Registrar of Electors.

“We are pushing home the need to enrol now because only those correctly enrolled will get their voting papers for the local elections in the mail.

“We are already getting packs sent back as undeliverable because people have moved house and not updated their details with us. If their pack gets returned to us we have to remove these people from the electoral roll – which means they are no longer enrolled to vote”

Enrolment forms are available from the elections website www.elections.org.nz, by free texting your name and address to 3676, from any PostShop or by calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56). You can also check your details and enrol online at the website.

Residents who have got their enrolment update packs need to check their details are correct. If they need to change anything, they need to fill in the form, then sign, date and return it straight away.
