Great Coffey Road Trip Arrives in Levin on Monday
Friday, 20 November 2009
Some of Levin's finest food and beverage producers will be showcased on national television when Tamati Coffey, the TVNZ breakfast show weather guy, visits the town this Monday.
The McCafe Winnebago will be parked outside the Levin Aquatic Centre serving free coffee while knaves & wenches gearing up for the Medieval Market event walk around with some of the breakfast treats cooked up by the locals.
Food producers such as Genoese Foods, RJ's Licorice, Benniks Poultry, Turks Poultry, Tender Tips Asparagus, Blueberry Art, Shirley's Strawberries, as well as two local wine producers, Celtic Organic Winery and Ohau Gravels Wine, will be offering tasty samples.
Nature Coast Enterprise economic development manager Helene Judge says the morning will be a great opportunity for local producers to showcase their goods.
"This is a fun and fantastic opportunity. Horowhenua is the second biggest food producer in New Zealand and we get a chance to highlight this on national TV."
The morning will also highlight events happening in the area, including the AP& I show and Organic River Festivals in January, the Medieval Market in February, and the Hot Air Balloon fiesta in April.
"We have people from the Medieval Market dressing in costume and walking around with food samples. Other event coordinators are organising props including trying to get Tamati to go up in a hot air balloon."
The community are invited to be part of the morning which is being held in front of the Levin Aquatic Centre on Monday, 23 November 2009, from 6.30am to 8.30am.
