Dates Set for Plan Change Hearings

Monday, 13 July 2009

Council staff have worked their way through submissions to Plan Changes 20 and 21.  Dates for public hearings are now set.

The two plan changes address aspects of future development of the District.  Plan Change 20 would introduce new subdivision provisions for the rural environment, and Plan Change 21 alters the District Plan for Greenbelt Residential areas and to manage areas of urban growth.

Council Planner David McCorkindale says 154 submissions were originally received to the plan changes and another 33 during the further submission process, which closed on 27 April 2009.

“A separate report for each plan change is currently being prepared and will include recommendations for each submission received,” he says.

The hearings for Plan Change 21 will be held from 11 to 13 August 2009, and for Plan Change 20 from 17 to 19 August 2009.  The hearings will be held in the Horowhenua District Council Chambers, 126 Oxford Street, Levin, starting at 1.30 pm and running until about 8.30 pm. The 11 August hearing will start at 2.00 pm.

Letters advising of the hearing dates and details will be sent to every person who made a submission or further submission on these plan changes and who asked to be heard at the hearing.

Prior to the hearings, copies of the planner’s recommendations will be sent to those submitters, and will also be available for public inspection at the Council office in Levin or on our Consulting On page.
