Council facilitates community workshop on Green Paper for Vulnerable Children
Friday, 03 February 2012
On Wednesday, 1 February 2012, Horowhenua District Council facilitated a community workshop that enabled discussion on the Government's Green Paper for Vulnerable Children.
The Green Paper highlights opportunities for change in community leadership, community responsibility, social policy and social practice to in turn ensure more children in New Zealand grow up safe, happy and secure in their environment.
Over 40 community representatives turned up to learn more about the Green Paper and to have their say on what changes need to be made. There were multiple representatives from different areas of our community and participants enjoyed taking part in positive discussion.
On behalf of the Horowhenua community, Horowhenua District Council will now prepare a submission which will then be submitted to the Green Paper Advisory Committee. A huge thank you to those who took the opportunity to get involved in the process.
It's not too late to have your say
Visit Children's Action Plan to have your say on how we can better protect vulnerable children - only 25 days until submissions close.
