Council Appoints Commissioner for Plan Changes

Commissioners have been appointed for the upcoming hearings for Plan Change 20 (Rural Subdivision) and Plan Change 21 (Greenbelt Residential Zone and Urban Growth) after a resolution was passed at a Council meeting held on 5 August 2009.

The hearings were previously to be heard by Council’s Hearing Committee however, a  decision to appoint commissioners was supported after consideration was given to the length of times the hearings and deliberations were anticipated to take.

The Council has appointed Bill Wasely of Wasley Knell Consultants Ltd to chair the hearing for Plan Change 21, with Clare Barton of Environments by Design Ltd and Councillor Garry Good to also act as commissioners for this hearing.

For the Plan Change 20 hearing, Dean Chrystal of Planit Associates has been appointed to chair the hearing with Clare Barton of Environments by Design Ltd and Councillor Garry Good to also act as commissioners.

The Commissioners will make recommendations back to Council, with the final decision on the plan changes to be made by the full Council.

The hearing for Plan Change 21 is scheduled to take place on 11, 12 and 13 August 2009 commencing at 2.00pm.  The hearing for Plan Change 20 is scheduled for the following week commencing 17, 18 and 19 August 2009 at 2.00pm.  Both hearings will be held in the Horowhenua District Council Chambers, 126 Oxford St, Levin.
