Under the Reserves Act 1977, Council is required to develop and review management plans for reserves under its control for the purpose of providing for the use, enjoyment, maintenance, protection, preservation and development of these reserves.

Draft Reserves Management Plan
In May-June 2016 Council publicly notified its intent to review the Ohau River Reserves Management Plan. The Ohau River Reserves include Gladstone Reserve, Kimberley Reserve, Kirkcaldies Reserve, an access way off Muhunoa East Road and Parikawau Reserve. During this time Council called for members of the community to put forward any comments or suggestions they had on how these reserves might be used, managed and/or developed in the future.

Written comments, suggestions or objections in relation to this draft reserve management plan closed on 17 March 2017.
Hearing of Submissions
The hearing of submissions was held on Tuesday, 15 August 2017. Next the Hearings Committee will meet to deliberate on all the submissions (including the submissions which were not heard at the Hearing) received on the Reserve Management Plans for Waitarere, Ohau and Foxton. A date for Deliberations is yet to be set.
