Observances of Anzac Day
Civic Services Horowhenua District
The Horowhenua District Council conducts a number of Civic Services in observance of Anzac Day – April 25th – throughout the district.
These Civic Services are held in addition to the Dawn Services and Retreat Ceremonies held in the respective areas by the local Returned Services Associations.
Residents of our District are encouraged to attend the following Civic Services –
Foxton Civic Service – Foxton War Memorial Hall, commencing at 9.00am.
At the conclusion of the Civic Service a march to the Cenotaph will take place followed by a Cenotaph Service.
During the Cenotaph Service there will be an opportunity for community groups and citizens to lay wreaths at the Cenotaph in Main Street, Foxton.
Tokomaru Anzac Day Service, commencing at 10.00am
This service commences at 10.00am at the Tokomaru RSA and Country Club, situated at Matipo Street, Tokomaru. During the service there will be an opportunity for organisations and citizens to lay wreaths.
Levin Civic Service – Public Gardens, commencing at 10.30am
The Civic Service commences at 10.30am. The parade commences from outside the Bath Street Library at 10.10am (approx).
Shannon Civic Service - Shannon War Memorial, Plimmer Terrace, Shannon, commencing at 11.30am
A Cenotaph Service will commence at 11.30am following a short parade from the old Shannon Post Office to the Cenotaph.
During the Cenotaph Services there will be an opportunity for community groups and citizens to lay wreaths.
